Finding Maya ...

I was in the front bedroom writing out some bills, and it got awfully quiet ...

This is how I found Maya - buried in a bunch of books ... in Norah's room! She was looking at EACH one, meticulously. So thankful it was me that found her and NOT Norah!!

Sherriff Paul and Sen McCain ~ The Heroes BBQ

The 2 sponsored a BBQ at San Tan Flats (one of our favorite places to eat) for the local heroes - law enforcement, fire guys, & correction officers.

The dog days of summer....

Uggh! Is it fall yet? Here in Arizona it has been in the triple digits for months, now, and even though we had a little bit of a break in July with the monsoons, it seems the hot weather has returned, and the humidity has stuck around. We are soooo ready for some cooler temps, we have been tempted to take a vacation to the higher elevation. At least I have...
We are settling into the school routine - homework and reading everynight, instead of waiting to do the hoemwork packet on Thursdays. AND packing the backpack and making the lunch the night before, not at 7 am when we are trying to get OUT of the house. It is the little things that make the mornings difficult and turn into a big mess!! Norah still loves school and we think we are lucky to have Mrs. Conrey - she seems to be super patient with the kids, and she is always so excited to see the kids in the morning! Hats off to her, kindergarten teachers really have a tough job!! But, I am sure it is really rewarding, seeing the progress throughout the year! I have found that I am learning a lot about Norah's classmates- she plays "school" in the toyroom, and proceeds to put certain kids in "time out" for certain behavior, makes others pull their behavior card for bad behavior, allows others to go to the rest room after raising their hands, and then thanks them for being so polite. So I am learning a lot about Mrs. Conrey, too, and can safely assume that when Norah is thanking her classmates for being polite, it is really Mrs. Conrey I hear.
Other than that, Scott has been working a LOT of off duty work, trying to save up some money for the holidays, trips, etc...
I have been still trying to keep up with my own school work on top of the full time job and kids. And I have found SOME time for scrapbooking, which seems to be a good "release" lately.
And Maya- she is getting funnier every day. She thinks it is pretty funny to walk around the house in Scott's flip flops, and then also wants wants to flex her muscles every chance she gets. She even has the sound effects down...

The new quilt!!!

Maya got a package in the mail on Friday from Nancy in Washington. She is my Mom's cousin and LOVES to quilt. I could only dream of quilting as good as she does! I have bought some fabrics, and even started some projects, but really have mostly Unfinished Projects in the closet! Oh well, at least the kids can enjoy their quilts from Nancy, even down here in Arizona. I think it was 100 degrees today, and humid, but at night time, they always like to cuddle!! The quilt is adorable, and Maya LOVES the soft backing on it!
