Spring Training 2009

We don't have to think too hard about why we live here on days like this- Spring Training started this week, and Scott has made a committment to visit more stadiums this year. Today was the Peoria Sports complex with James- watching the Mariners take on the Dodgers. The Mariners won, but even better- the temps were in the 80's with beautiful blue skies. Better than the snow back in MN- yuck!!

Baby Maya update

This is our most recent ultrasound of Maya- it was back on January 5th. It is a level 3 ultrasound, due to the fact that Maya was turned originally in such a way that wouldn't let the tech get a view of her heart.
I had another visit to the Dr's office today- it turns out that my blood pressure was a little elevated (only 120/80- but my baseline is much lower) and there was some protein in my urine- both indicating the start of preeclampsia, or pregnancy induced hypertension. This is a common thing with those Moms that have G.D. aka- gestational diabetes (which I also have.) Luckily, so far, I have been able to control the g.d. pretty easily, just cutting out my juices, caffeine free soda, and daily decaf Starbucks... also most snacks have turned from yogurt to cottage cheese, and veggies...etc.

I am 31 weeks and a few days, and in any case, starting next week, I see the Dr's weekly. I also start the twice weekly testing- one time a week I go in for the Non-Stress Test and the other time during the week I go in for a BioPhysical Profile. These tests were ordered due to Norah's entrance into the world with her hydrops fetalis and possible diagnosis of Intra-Uterine Growth Restriction. Also, there will be some doppler ultrasounds done, checking the blood flow through Maya's heart and her circulation... Sounds like a lot of scary tests, but so thankful that Maya will be watched very closely. Scott and I have put our full trust in this medical group, knowing that they know and understand fetal medicine, and will help us bring a healthy baby into our family. We will keep you all posted!

Kickball

So... I haven't been very good about blogging, lately, so here is my almost March resolution- to keep everyone posted on the family- Baby Maya is almost here- about 2 months to go and I think we are pretty much ready- nursery is painted, crib is up, we have LOTS of clothes, and most importantly, Norah is SOOOO excited to meet her. She told me the other day she would help with bottles, diapers, but also that we would all sing "You are my Sunshine." Really, how sweet! Scott and I toured the Chandler hospital birthing suite last week, and they have recently added Wi-Fi to the hospital, so I have NO excuses : )
Anyways, we signed Norah up for kickball with Florence Parks/Rec. We have been trying to find a multitude of different activities that she would like, so she can try lots of things. The dance thing just wasn't for her- since she loved gymnastics SO much, she thought that the ballet bar was for hanging and doing flips on- not for first or second position. And the mirror, well that was more fun to make faces in, not watch yourself dance. So, kickball went well. She LOVED it, especially kicking the ball and running the bases. Not so much the outfield, that was more fun to run around, but let me tell you she took a nice long nap when we got home.
