Norah's new glasses ~ June 27, 2011

We have been going to the pediatric opthamologist regularly to follow up with Norah's cataract. It is still there, and when we visited back at the beginning of this month, he noticed a slight increase in the size of the cataract, and her vision got a little worse. (Now it was 20/40 in her left eye instead of 20/30.) So he prescribed glasses for her, thinking that one of the reasons her vision was getting worse was because the cataract was blocking some of the messages/brain signals for her vision. And since that is still somewhat developing, he was concerned that once it was lost, it might not come back. SO ~ glasses it is - which is fine, she looks pretty cite in them, actually a little older. She is a little self conscious, but she'll adjust! She actually thought they were pretty cool - the DR recommended the transition lenses, because those with cataracts have a more sensitive time with the sun.
